The following biography is from the archives of askART.
Son of an auditor buildings, he was a pupil of Victor Vincelet . It began in the Salon of 1868 and will then expounded with regularity. He obtained an honorable mention in 1876, a medal 3rd class medal in 1878 and a 2 nd class in 1888. He was also honored with a bronze medal on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1889 , then by another during the universal Exhibition of 1900 , both in Paris. The Legion of Honor he was awarded in 1903.
A recognized specialist in the "Flower Art", this master of still life was particularly renowned for his talent to represent the roses .
He also realized together with Achille Cesbron Passage Fair decorating the Paris City Hall .
Admitted to the Society of French artists in 1878, Member of the National Horticultural Society of France , he chairs the Fine Arts Section of the creation of it in 1898 until his death. He was also a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Flower.

The cartload of flowers (1879) and Boarding flowers (1880) were purchased by the State in favor of the Musée du Luxembourg .
A day of celebration, acquired by the City of Paris in 1882, was originally presented in the lounge of the Prefect of the Seine.
Flowers and fruits in possession of the Musée Magnin in Dijon .
Flowers are visible at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen .
A Still Life with Apples and Pears belongs to the Museum of Fine Arts of Valenciennes .
Other paintings are also exhibited in museums of Beziers, Cambrai, Epinal, Mulhouse, Epinal, Rochefort and La Hague, and the Petit Palais in Paris.
