Wilhelm Bartsch (born March 3, 1871 in Kiel , † 1953 in Hannover ) was a German landscape and marine painter of the Düsseldorf School . After 1909 he became part of the second generation of the artists' colony Worpswede .
In the 1890s, Bartsch began painting studies at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe with Robert Poetzelberger . Eight years later he attended the Art Academy Düsseldorf , where Peter Janssen d. Ä. and Eugen Dücker [1] were his teachers. In the years 1897 to 1905 he regularly visited Katwijk . After the turn of the century he worked in Hamburg . After 1909 he settled in Worpswede , where he became part of the local artists' colony and had Heinrich Vogeler build a house on Bergstrasse. Bartsch undertook trips to northern and southern Europe, especially on the coast of Liguria . His grave is located in the Worpswede cemetery. His works are represented in the Niedersächsisches Landesmuseum Hannover and in the Märkisches Museum Witten .
